Neem Oil
Neem Oil™ is an organic multi-use product derived from the Neem tree native to the Middle East where it has been used for centuries. Neem works as a systemic which is absorbed into the plant to be ingested by feeding insects. It is also used as a foliar spray. Many beneficial insects are unharmed by Neem because they do not feed from the plant.
Caution: Keep out of reach of children.
Note: Do not take internally. Avoid contact with eyes.
Neem Oil has three modes of action
- Anti-feedent: Neem suppresses the insect's desire to feed and, therefore, no damage is caused.
- Repellent: Insects simply stay away from areas sprayed with Neem and, therefore, no damage is caused.
- Insect growth regulator: Neem disrupts the insect's delicate hormonal balance so it dies before it molts to the next life stage.
Always tarp the area to be sprayed to prevent overspray from damaging surfaces and creating slippery walkways. Always use Ivory Liquid™ or Murphy’s Oil Soap™ with the Neem Oil mix. Murphy’s will effectively mask the Neem Oil smell.
For each quart of water, mix
1 teaspoon (capful)
¼ teaspoon Ivory Liquid or Murphy’s Oil Soap as an emulsifier
Shake well before and during use. Spray the diluted solution generously on all leaf surfaces, including the undersides of leaves and tree trunks. This solution can also be used to water plants. Use once every 2-4 weeks. It is most effective when applied in early morning or late afternoon.
To use as a drench, move moss so the drench will be poured directly onto the media. Use about 1 cup of the mixture for a 10-inch pot. Pour the Neem drench onto the surface of the growing media. Place the moss back in place.
Keep Neem Oil at room temperature. It will solidify at temperatures below 60° F and will break down in temperatures over 95° F, so don’t leave it in a hot or cold vehicle.
Note: Wash your hands after spraying or any contact with Neem Oil to prevent skin irritation.
