Agavaceae
Light Level: High
Water Level: Low
Agave is a succulent. These are large plants with thick, pointed leaves. They grow slowly and need good light. After a plant stores enough energy to produce flowers it is mature. It will produce tall flower spikes, after which, the mother plant dies, leaving offshoots. The waxy coating with the powdery surface seals the leaves against evaporation and reflects up to 75% of the incoming heat.
Country of Origin

Maintenance Tips
Check the soil; water when the top two inches of soil are dry. Water lightly in the non-growing season. This plant requires frequent watering and fertilizing during its growing season.
Do not apply growing medium so that the new soil line is higher than its previous level.
Avoid using warm or hot water on these plants. Small, young plants do well in filtered bright light.
