Bamboo is actually a grass, and therefore, a heavy feeder. Black Bamboo is a clump forming bamboo with arching green canes that turn black when the plant is two or three years old. The name Phyllostachys comes from the Greek word for “leaf spike.” This is a fast growing plant that can achieve heights of over 10 feet under perfect growing conditions.
